
Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3rd, 1962 in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena is his younger sister and a drummer. Lee was just two years old when his dad moved his family to California. He also got his first drumsticks at the age of four, and his first drum set when he was sixteen. To pursue a career in musician after graduation, he left high school and joined the L.A. nightclub band Suite 19. He was a fan of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick as a teenager. The main influences on his drumming include John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge, Alex Van Halen and Terry Bozzio
